MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)----Regis Corporation (NYSE: RGS) , the global leader in the $150
billion hair-care industry, today announced that it has formed a new
limited liability company in a joint venture with Intelligent
Nutrients, Inc., a company owned by Horst Rechelbacher. Intelligent
Nutrients, LLC, will continue to produce a line of organic products,
Intelligent Nutrients by Horst, made with ingredients that are
harmonically grown(TM) using organic farming methods. Intelligent
Nutrients' mission is to provide products that offer both protective
and nutritional value. These products will be offered at Regis'
corporate and franchised salons and other independently owned salons.
Intelligent Nutrients, Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was
founded by Horst M. Rechelbacher in 1995. Mr. Rechelbacher is
well-known in the salon industry for founding the Aveda Corporation, a
global plant-based cosmetics company, which he began in 1978 and sold
to Estee Lauder in 1997.
"We are proud to partner with Horst, a legend within the salon
industry," commented Paul D. Finkelstein, Regis chairman and chief
executive officer. "We believe that our customers and salon owners
alike will be attracted to an organic, professional hair-care product
line that will be diversion-free. Not only are we putting the
'profession' back in professional products, we are responding to the
increasing consumer demand for organic products by bringing Horst's
latest vision to market."
Intelligent Nutrients, LLC, currently carries a wide variety of
organic, harmonically grown products, including dietary supplements,
coffees, teas and aromatics. Regis Corporation will offer many of
these items at select salons in December 2006. A full line of
professional hair-care and personal care products is in development
and is expected to be available in calendar year 2007.
"Regis Corporation has the ideal global infrastructure of hair
salons in all of the best malls and retail locations to introduce
people to the Intelligent Nutrients experience," said Horst
Rechelbacher. "We are focused on feeling good as well as looking good.
Our vision is to offer organic, harmonically grown(TM), highly
nutritional products with food-based ingredients. We strongly believe
that consumers should never put anything in or on their bodies that
does not have nutritional and protective value."
Intelligent Nutrients serves consumers through the development of
products made with organically, harmonically or biodynamically grown
plant-active materials of the highest quality.
"We should view our bodies as an ecosystem," Horst continued.
"When organic, harmonic and biodynamic methods of cultivation are
used, the soil is full of nutrients. These nutrients are transferred
to plants, which in turn provide both humans and animals with complete
anatomical nutrition."
Well-documented and researched plant materials are selected to
offer men, women and children intelligent nutrition in both functional
foods and nutraceuticals. For additional information, please visit

Under the terms of the agreement, Regis Corporation and a company
owned by Horst Rechelbacher are 50/50 partners. It is anticipated that
Intelligent Nutrients, LLC, will be the exclusive direct distributor
of Intelligent Nutrients by Horst, including the forthcoming hair,
skin and total body care lines, to the entire professional salon
industry. Regis Corporation has made a five-year commitment to donate
its share of the distributed profits (excluding tax distributions)
from the joint venture to fund cosmetology school scholarships. In
addition, Horst Rechelbacher intends to donate his share of the
distributed profits (excluding tax distributions) to the Horst M.
Rechelbacher Foundation, which will in turn donate them to global
social, environmental and animal rights charities.
